Taxonomy
Fenestrirostra was named by Cooper (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-l S Ldov-m Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. Its type is Rhynchonella glacialis. It is the type genus of Fenestrirostrinae.

It was assigned to Camarotoechiidae by Villas and Cocks (1996); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Fenestrirostrinae by Williams et al. (2002).
