Vitiphyllum parvifolium was named by Fontaine (1889) [Cissites parvifolius (Fontaine) Berry]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was recombined as Cissites parvifolius by Berry (1912) and Knowlton (1919).
