Taxonomy
Halorella was named by Bittner (1884) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 1066].

It was assigned to Halorellidae by Bychkov et al. (1976) and Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
