Saurichthys deperditus
Taxonomy
Giffonus deperditus was named by Costa (1862). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Giffoni Valle Piana, Salerno, which is in an Alaunian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Dolomia Principale Formation of Italy.
It was considered a nomen dubium by Bassani (1895); it was recombined as Saurichthys deperditus by Hornung et al. (2019).
