Himalairhynchia was named by Jin and Sun (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Himalairhynchia media.

It was assigned to Ivanoviellinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
