Taxonomy
Poiocera was named by Laporte (1832). It is extant. It is the type genus of Poiocerinae, Poiocerini.

It was assigned to Fulgoridae by Germar and Berendt (1856) and Szwedo et al. (2004); and to Poiocerini by Urban and Cryan (2009).
