Salda was named by Fabricius (1803). It is extant. It is the type genus of Saldides, Saldinae, Saldoidea, Saldini.

It was assigned to Ryngota by Fabricius (1803); to Saldidae by Coope et al. (1961); and to Saldini by Schuh et al. (1987) and Lindskog (1995).
