Taxonomy
Dytiscus fuscipes was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant.

It was recombined as Hydrophilus fuscipes by De Geer (1774) and Müller (1776); it was misspelled as Hydrobius fascipes by Aalto et al. (1984); it was recombined as Hydrobius fuscipes by Lomnicki (1894), Coope et al. (1961), Green et al. (2006), Kiselev and Nazarov (2009), Elias (2014) and Ashworth and Nelson (2014).
