Kindleina was named by Savage et al. (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 58]. Its type is Kindleina suemezensis.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellacea by Savage et al. (1978); to Plectorhynchellinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).

N. M. Savage et al. 1978Small to medium sized Iongitudinally ovate to subpentagonal Rhyn­ chonellacea with a ventral fold, dorsal sulcus and intraplicate anterior commissure. The dental lamellae are very short and the hinge plates are divided. No septalium or median septum is present.
