Laevorhynchia was named by Shen and He (1994) [Sepkoski's age data: P Dora]. Its type is Laevorhynchia tenuis.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Paranorellininae by Williams et al. (2007).
