Taxonomy
Protegulorhynchia meridionalis was named by Owen (1980). Its type specimen is BB. 76770 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is D.533 (Humps Islet, James Ross Island), which is in a Campanian marine horizon in Antarctica. It is the type species of Protegulorhynchia.
