Taxonomy
Madarosia was named by Cooper and Grant (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Madarosia anterolamellata. It is the type genus of Madarosiinae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Madarosiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
