Taxonomy
Morphorhynchus was named by Cooper and Dutro (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-u Sepkoski's reference number: 708]. It is not extant. Its type is Morphorhynchus varicostatum.

It was assigned to Trigonirhynchiidae by Cooper and Dutro (1982); to Trigonirhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
