Taxonomy
Caenoptilon minutum was named by Zalessky (1933). It is an impression. Its type locality is Ouralsky mine, Kargala, which is in a Capitanian terrestrial mudstone in the Amanak Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Permochorista minuta by Martynova (1942); it was recombined as Mesochorista minuta by Willmann (1978) and Novokshonov (1997).
