Taxonomy
Notosaria was named by Cooper (1959) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is extant. Its type is Terebratula nigricans. It is the type genus of Notosariidae.

It was assigned to Hemithyridae by Cooper (1959); to Notosariidae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
