Nucleusorhynchia was named by Sun and Ye (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr m Sepkoski's reference number: 881]. Its type is Nucleusorhynchia typica. It is the type genus of Nucleusorhynchiinae.
It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nucleusorhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
