Taxonomy
Platythyris viaudi was named by Middlemiss (1978). Its type specimen is BM. BB 76522, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Moulin d'Aveau, Commequiers, which is in a Coniacian/Santonian coastal marl in France.
