Ochotorhynchia was named by Dagys (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Ochotorhynchia omolonensis. It is the type genus of Ochotorhynchiidae.
It was assigned to Ochotorhynchiidae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
