Taxonomy
Collignonites asamai was named by Bando (1977). Its type specimen is NSM.PM 9199 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ankilokaza, which is in a Dienerian marine horizon in the Middle Sakamena Formation of Madagascar. It is the type species of Collignonites.
