Pectorhyncha was named by McLearn (1918) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u Sepkoski's reference number: 25].

It was assigned to Obturamentellidae by Savage and Goodwin (1998) and Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
