Taxonomy
Trichius lugubris was named by Heer (1862). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Oeningen (Zurich collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Gnorimus lugubris by Kolbe (1931).
