Baiera was named by Braun (1843). It is not extant. Its type is Baiera dichotoma.
It was assigned to Ginkgophyta by Andrews (1970) and Lakhanpal et al. (1976); to Ginkgoales by Chandra and Tewari (1991) and Moisan et al. (2010); and to Ginkgoaceae by Knowlton (1919), Jain and Delevoryas (1967) and Dietl and Schweigert (2011).
