Taxonomy
Rhynchonellina was named by Gemmellaro (1871) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori J Toar Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538]. It is the type genus of Rhynchonellininae.

It was assigned to Dimerellidae by Buckman (1917); to Rhynchonellininae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
