Taxonomy
Rhynchotetra was named by Weller (1910) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 955]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Rhynchotetradinae, Rhynchotetradidae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhynchotetradinae by Williams et al. (2002).
