Taxonomy
Palaeoboreus zherichini was named by Sukacheva and Rasnitsyn (1992). Its type specimen is PIN 3699/1218, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Khoutiyn-Khotgor (PIN collection 3688), which is in a Tithonian lacustrine shale in the Ulaan-Ereg Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Palaeoboreus.
