Taxonomy
Agrion (Agrion) aglaope was named by Heer (1849). It is an impression. Its type locality is Oeningen (von Seyfried collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Agrion aglaope by Hagen (1850); it was recombined as Coenagrion aglaope by Kirby (1890).
