Russirhynchia was named by Buckman (1917) [Sepkoski's age data: J Call K Haut Sepkoski's reference number: 1091]. Its type is Terebratula fischeri.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Isjuminellinae by Williams et al. (2002).
