Septacamera was named by Stepanov (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1]. It is not extant. Its type is Camarophoria kutorgae.
It was assigned to Torynechinae by Grant (1965); to Tetracameridae by Grant (1971) and Shi and Waterhouse (1996); to Stenoscismatidae by Angiolini et al. (1999); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).
