Sinorhynchia was named by Yang and Xu (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Sinorhynchia bifaceta. It is the type genus of Sinorhynchiidae.
It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sinorhynchiidae by Williams et al. (2002).
