Taxonomy
Heritschioides carneyi was named by Wilson (1982). Its type specimen is LACMIP 6374 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LACMIP 4457, McCloud Bridge West, which is in a Wolfcampian marine limestone/limestone in the McCloud Limestone Formation of California.
