Taxonomy
Tainuirhynchia was named by MacFarlan (1992) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath J Tith-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1068]. Its type is Tainuirhynchia tainuii.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Piarorhynchiinae by Williams et al. (2002).
