Taxonomy
Melania scalarioidea was named by Phillips (1836). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Loxonema scalarioideum by de Koninck (1881); it was recombined as Zygopleura scalaroides by Longstaff (1933); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura (Palaeozygopleura) scalaroides by Horný (1955); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura scalarioidea by Batten (1966); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura scalaroides by Wagner (2023).
