Taxonomy
Tricoria was named by Cooper and Grant (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm-u P Leon-l Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Tricoria hirpex. It is the type genus of Tricoriinae.

It was assigned to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tricoriinae by Williams et al. (2002).
