Taxonomy
Spinus yumenense was named by Hong (1982). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Sample II8P14L28-1, Xiagou, Qingquan Town, Yumen City, which is in an Aptian lacustrine mudstone in the Xiagou Formation of China. It is the type species of Spinus.
