Alaskospira was named by Kirk and Amsden (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u S u Sepkoski's reference number: 1,538]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Spiriferacea by Kirk and Amsden (1952); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Obesariinae by Williams et al. (2006).
