Taxonomy
Alipunctifera was named by Waterhouse (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. Its type is Spiriferina kaihikuana.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Punctospiriferidae by Williams et al. (2006).
