Paraleptomitella was named by Chen et al. (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 858]. It is not extant. Its type is Paraleptomitella dictyodroma.
It was assigned to Poecilosclerida by Sepkoski (2002); to Leptomitidae by Chen et al. (1989) and Hou et al. (2004); and to Porifera by Bambach et al. (2007).
