J., Jr. Pojeta 1997Anteriorly-posteriorly elongate, posterodorsally alate, simplicicostate, strongly prosocline Ambonychiidae.

Shell strongly inequilateral, strongly anteriorly-posteriorly elongated, lacking anterior lobe; posterodorsally alate; beaks terminal, prosogyral; obliquity strongly prosocline; ornament of growth varices and simple costae, which are relatively few in number; byssal gape present, byssal sinus shallow; size medium to large for the family. Posterior adductor muscle scar on posterior umbonal slope, anterior to shell midlength and dorsal to shell midheight; posterior byssal-pedal retractor muscle scar large; anterior byssal retractor muscle scars small, immediately posterior to beak; pallial line typical for the family; ligament opisthodetic, otherwise unknown; dentition unknown.
