Rondaniella was named by Johannsen (1909). It is extant. It is the type genus of Rondaniellini.

It was assigned to Mycetophilinae by Johannsen (1909); to Mycetophilidae by Evenhuis (1994); and to Rondaniellini by Oliveira and Amorim (2021).
