Taxonomy
Anthracomartus priesti was named by Pocock (1911). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Coseley, near Dudley (Priest coll), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay shale in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Cryptomartus priesti by Petrunkevitch (1945), Petrunkevitch (1949) and Petrunkevitch (1953).
