Taxonomy
Palaeocharinus rhyniensis was named by Hirst (1923). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rhynie cherts (BMNH coll.), which is in a Pragian pond chert in the Dryden Flags Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Palaeocharinus.
