Crurithyris was named by George (1931) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife Tr Indu-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25,150,1128].
It was assigned to Ambocoeliidae by Brunton and Champion (1974) and Savage et al. (1978); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ambocoeliinae by Williams et al. (2006).
