Taxonomy
Prosphingites involutus was named by Chao (1959). Its type specimen is NIGP 12575 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Arnautoceltites involutus by Kummel (1969); it was recombined as Paranannites involutus by Shigeta and Nguyen (2014).
