Murchisonia (Hypergonia) deplanata was named by Donald (1895). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Glencart, Dalry, which is in an Arnsbergian carbonate limestone in the Orchard Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Hypergonia deplanata by Wagner (2023).
