Taxonomy
Dyticospirifer was named by Johnson (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: D Sieg-l Sepkoski's reference number: 25]. Its type is Dyticospirifer mccolleyensis.

It was assigned to Delthyrinae by Johnson (1966); to Delthyridinae by Johnson (1970); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hysterolitinae by Johnson (1995) and Williams et al. (2006).
