Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
D. Ager 1968 (Eoperegrinella)Medium to large rhyncho-nelloids, laterally oval in outline, long straight hinge-line, equally biconvex, both valves with a pronounced median sinus, rectimarginate. Many strong simple costae throughout growth. Beak prominent, sub-mesothyrid. No dental plates, small teeth arising directly from shell wall. Long, massive dorsal median septum supporting thin, horizontal hinge-plates. Crura arising from distal ends of hinge-plates, directly in contact with median septum. The only noteworthy distinctions from Peregrinella are the complete absence of dental plates in some species (though per-haps not all) and the presence of a median sinus in the dorsal valve.
