Taxonomy
Dasytes was named by Paykull (1799). It is extant. It is the type genus of Dasytidae, Dasytini.

It was assigned to Malacodermi by Latreille (1802); and to Dasytini by Bouchard et al. (2011), Tshernyshev (2019), Gimmel et al. (2019) and Tihelka et al. (2021).
