Eobrachythyrina was named by Lazarev and Poletaev (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Serp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1200]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); to Brachythyridinidae by Waterhouse (2004); and to Angiospiriferinae by Williams et al. (2006).
