Taxonomy
Eridmatus was named by Branson (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc-u P Asse-l Sepkoski's reference number: 7,417]. Its type is Spirifer texanus.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); to Spiriferellinae by Waterhouse (2004); and to Spiriferellidae by Williams et al. (2006).
