Arca tuberculosa was named by Sowerby I (1833). It is extant.

It was recombined as Arca (Arca) tuberculosa by Grant and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Anadara (Anadara) tuberculosa by Keen (1971) and Coan et al. (2000); it was recombined as Anadara tuberculosa by Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
